Man jailed for running down child on carnival ground
SANTA FE - A 30-year old Hitchcock man has been jailed in Santa Fe after police say his reckless driving inside a barricaded area at a local carnival resulted in injuries to a child.
Santa Fe Police Sgt. Eric Bruss said officers were called to an auto/pedestrian accident on the Santa Fe Junior Hight School parking lot Saturday where a Christmas carnival was underway and a 6-year old boy had been hit by a car.
Although EMS personell determined the injuries was minor, witnesses told police the boy had gone completely under the Dodge Ram truck driven by Andrew Charles Mauldin.
Police say Mauldin has never been issued a drivers license as far as they could determine and he was operating an uninsured vehicle.
