How to upload an image to our servers and use on the forum  (United States)

A member contacted me and asked about uploading images to the forums and we have found the solution and figured out how it works!  The software we run our site with is extremely powerful but it has so many hidden features that sometimes it's confusing, even to me.  I hope these instructions are easy to follow and hopefully this will all work :)

Ok -- When a member wants to upload an image to our servers, this is what you do:

  1. When you get to the place in your post that you want to upload the images, click the icon in the message editor (above your editor box) that looks like a mountain with a sun in it.  This is the "Insert Image" button. This will pop up a little window (you may need to tell your browser to allow popups from this site).
  2. Then you need to click the button that says "Browse Server" -- this will pop up another window with a folder list in it.
  3. Click the "!Images" folder.  That window will then change.
  4. In the images folder, we recommend you create a folder of your own for your images but you can dump them right there in the root if you really want to.  At the top of the window, there is a box with a Browse Button.  Use this to locate the image on your computer and select it.
  5. When you have the image name inside that Browse Box, you will then need to click the "Upload New File" link. It's hard to read the link (and we will fix this soon), but it's right there by the Browse button.  In a matter of moments, your image will appear in the list of files within that folder.
  6. Click on your image you just uploaded (it will be a preview). The window will close, and your image will appear in the preview box.
  7. Then you can click the "OK" button and that window will also close and your image will appear in the message editor!

You should be able to "drag" the image around if you want to move it within your post to position it in the right place.  We are still tweaking things around here and trying to iron out the bugs, and while the system may be a little confusing, it will get easier with practice for sure.  Anyone having problems with this, please reply in this thread and we'll try to resolve them as quickly as possible!

Thanks again for your support of rideguy.com and we hope you enjoy your time here!

Don't know if this is PG-13 enough ;)  Pretty nice inserting method. Nice to not have to link off of another site. Hotlinking is frowned upon anyways - I'm a strong believer in not stealing bandwidth.
